Our Language. Our Culture. Our Story.
We are building the digital home of a cultural movement to collect, preserve, document and share the wealth of knowledge, stories, traditions and artefacts of Trinidadian Patwa language and culture — honouring our ancestors and reviving a fading heritage for generations to come.
Tout Bagay Patwa is a community-rooted association devoted to the Trinidadian French-Lexified Creole — Patwa, or Kwéyòl. Once the everyday language of our villages, folktales, proverbs and songs, Patwa is now endangered. We exist to carry it forward — with pride, scholarship and joy.
Documenting and teaching Patwa so it lives on the tongue, not only on the page.
Sharing lessons, resources and experiences for learners of every age.
Bringing speakers, elders, artists and youth together around a shared inheritance.
Building archives, recordings and publications rooted in heritage and scholarship.
“Creole is a language in its own right — not merely mispronounced French.”
— In the spirit of John Jacob Thomas, author of The Theory and Practice of Creole Grammar (1869), the first grammar of any French Creole.
